Wish me luck - Clutch Change
Discussion
Attempting a clutch change this weekend. Luckily have use of a mates ramp and his able assistance.
I have chosen a South Bend Clutch. I used to run these in Supras and they were excellent. This one uses a mix of Kevlar & Metalic

I am planning to use a Yella Terra Steel Flywheel although I have a new stock one here too

Lastly ARP Flywheel Bolts

I am also going to install a Hendrix Engineering Clutch line & remote bleeder. I can't speak highly enough of Thomas @ Hendix's customer service.
I will let you know how it all goes!

Not sure how much room you guys have in the bellhousing area. And as to whether the fixed clutch line will inconvenience.
But I find it easier to remove the box from the bellhousing first, remove the tranny. And then unbolt the bellhousing.
Refitting being the reverse of that
Generally speaking, I can have the box out within an hour without too much difficulty.

When I swapped my gearbox and clutch it was the usual struggle getting it off. Much easier putting back together removing the shifter completely and separating the gearbox from the bell housing. No tilting the engine then required. It is great the way tremec designed the T56 with the bell housing to gearbox bolts on the outside.
Oh yes and good luck!

Just an update. The clutch kit did have an alignment tool thanks guys.
Install went well. As expected from previous experience the SB clutch has stock like pedal pressure and nice smooth engagement. The clutch is rated @ 630 ft/lbs which should be more than enough for me. I need to bleed again as the pedal is very close to the floor. The Hendrix Engineering clutch & bleed lines were perfect. The bleed nipple sits up next to the reservoir.
If anyone wants a South Bend clutch email me and I will point you in the best direction.

The pedal feels relatively firm. It doesn't engage until the pedal is very close to the floor. Looking at LS1GTO forum it seems a common thing being a combination of a new clutch and more bleeding required.
It might be a bigger gap between the release bearing and the new clutch. It might need the release mech' shimming to shorten the throw. Monkfish1 will probably know?TerryS said:

u might have to shim the clutch. check out this link. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/manual-transmission/...
or bleed it, then bleed it again followed by more bleeding.
