Jodie Matthews in The Guardian thinks that Top Gear should never return because Top Gear said, in essence, "Pikeys have more fun", she seems to think that's in some way racist.

I am totally against racism. I don't count people who choose to live in caravans, pay no tax and generally flout the law as a race, anymore than those who choose buglary as a profession. They're pikeyshttp://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/aug/0...

Read that article last night and couldn't help but laugh.
Along with the comedy review a couple of weeks ago that asserted comedy is becoming more racist (or something along those lines, Richard Herring responded with his own article) it would appear the Guardian is becoming a pastiche of itself and out "Daily Mail"ing the Daily Mail in seeking to find offence where none exists.
It's all a bit sad really.

I'm guessing this women going to blue comedy clubs in her spare time, just so she can tut and walk out.
This woman needs a real job, this writing job is obviously giving her too much spare time to complain about benign non issues.

The Grauniad and the Mail are increasingly approaching from different directions yet meeting in the middle, when it comes to knee-jerk reactionary drivel, and the article about Richard Herring and other stand-ups was risible, but I'm not going to join in the PH groupthink on this one.
A sizeable proportion of Britain's travellers are thieving toerags, but does that really make using a racial slur related to Roma, a group that's been the target of racial prejudice, not to mention genocide, for centuries, OK?
A sizeable proportion of black men who drive BMWs are drug dealers, but I have my doubts that referring to the latter group as '
s' would be socially acceptable, even on PH.
