What is it like?

Does the place slow down to a crawl making it not worthwhile or is it still a good time to go?

I've been before in June but it was only for half a day and this time I intend to stay with the other half for a day and a half.

Dries up. Like the rest of the south of France. I'd try somewhere else to be honest.

Cheers for that, sadly it was what I feared.

I agree with Fulham, the whole place goes into sleep mode, you would also have to consider the weather factor, it may well be raining for the whole two days you are there at that time of year, not a great place to be in the rain.

Indeed. I have a house down there (am there at the moment in fact!) and spent a week at Easter - it rained non-stop. The most dreadful week of my life. And if you have children it just compounds things. This part of the world is strictly from May - end Sept.

We thought about it as a city break for New Years Eve - still avoid?

If just for new year's eve - then it can be ok - but I think there are better cities around the world for a w/e over new year to be honest!
