Much talk about Cosworth engine up-grades. Why not go for the 3.5 up-grade for the Cologne engine. Has anyone taken this route?

i agree the rover v8 is a brilliant engine all alloy block and heads with loads of tunning parts available a standard fitment in an S, 3.5 -5.0 ltr that would be my choice also.

Do you mean the Power Engineering 3.5 conversion for the V6..? Whats the costs / bhp..?

I suspect it would cost a lot more than the drop a cossie engine in route..

Re the 3.5 V8.. I could be wrong but am pretty sure it won't fit a V6 Chassis.. hence why the V8 chassis was different.

I think the body was also widened under the bonnet to accomodate the V8.
Remember the V8 is a 90 degree V8, whereas the V6 is a 60 degree V6, so the V6 naturally isn't as wide.

I don't think he meant the Rover 3.5 V*. I think he meant the conversion of the existing V6 engine to a 3.5 litre.

Like this:

THAT would fit - external dimensions are the same.

I've dismantled stroked cologne, it was hideous inside. The crank was from a 4.0 and the block sides were notched to allow rod clearance for the stock rods. The rod angle looked awful. The pistons were pretty weak opel items with a 22mm pin instead of the larger ford pin size, 24mm iirc. Reason for using the small pin was bushed little ends. There just seemed to be a lot of work for not a lot of gain and it didn't look very 'right' imo of course.
