Valve stem seals replacement.
Discussion
I got a '97 madza 323f which blow blue smokey from exhaust. I located it to valve stem seals.
Has anyone done replacing it while cylinder head still in car, using rope down the cylinder bore, to hold the valves up.
What tools to decompress the valve spring? and install back, as the valve collect need to put back in
if not, how much should i pay for garage to do it. i dont want to be ripped off or anything like that with garage. too many cowboy garages out there.
No idea what would be involved on a 323 but I did my RV8 without any problem, using rope fed through the plug hole to hold the valves up and a Sealey valve spring compressor to release the valve springs. The compressor I used is designed to be used with the heads fitted, and hooks under the base of the valve spring rather than under the entire head.
