I could do with a bit of advice please. I sat in my 320CLK today and started adjusting the seat position and it kept going forward until i was trapped. I managed to lower the seat electrically but couldn't and still cant move the seat backwards.
Anyone else know of or have had this problem. We've been told we may need a new seat motor. Any advice would be very welcome
TIA

hi, it is indeed a common problem. The long term answer is taht you need a new seat motor. However the short term answer is to look under teh seat and clout the motor with whatever you can get in there. I know it sounds strange but i looked under the mercedes owners forum and this was teh suggestion. Ive used it twice and its worked. Not bought my new motor yet. PS mine is 2002 car
Hi, thanks for the advice. I just whacked it with a hammer a few times and it hasn't helped yet. Started to loose my rag with it, so i walked away for a bit
Need to look in the owners manual to work out what fuse to pull or how to disconnect the battery (i'm a girl, sorry
) I'll let you know how i get on. Thanks again

It's in the boot under the carpet.

In a way I regret posting, cos I bet in 12 hours time when you've returned from A&E suffering from third degree burns from the battery you'll be telling us that you touched both terminals...

apebag: I then found out it was in the boot
I took out the carpets and was expecting a little black battery. Oh no. No such thing. I giant long thing with handles. The adjustable spanner i'd taken outside with me(which also happens to be the only one i have) wouldn't fit around the bolts
I did get a bit scared in case i touched the wrong one and blew myself up. The result was that i put the carpet back in shut the boot and went to bed.The car remains as it was. I've called my breakdown man out to move it to the local garage. Cant cope

OK an update for those of you that want to know
After spending a while bashing it with a hammer last night and searching for a battery that i couldn't undo once found it got fixed(temporarily) today. Its the control switch on the drivers doors that buggered.
Is there anywhere else i can get one from other than going to the dealers????

re looking under bonnet.Scrapyard? Or http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ (not a recommendation; just heard them advertise on the radio).
As an aside, that black cap on the right side of the engine bay as you look at it from the front is hiding a positive terminal which can be used to provide power to the car should the battery ever die.
