Just back from one of our fairly regular visits to Dalyan, Turkey. Because of the rather bizarre 'plane times we found ourselves in departures at Dalaman and a little peckish. It's the first time for us as we normally stop at a resturant on the way to the airport before flying.

Well, bugger me, I thought Moscow, Tokyo, and Copenhagen were expensive, but they are positively cheap compared to the prices on offer at Dalaman - remember that this is a small-ish provincial tourist airport in Turkey.

8TL (about £3.20) for 2, yes TWO, KFC hot wings. £3.20 buys you a full meal with a beer in many places in Turkey. It also buys you, I think, 9 hot wings in KFC in the West End of London. The Macdonalds, Pizza Hut, sarnie shop and drinks shop were all similarly expenive - A McD 'meal' was £10~12, a 50Ml bottle of local water £2.50.

So if you're travelling through Dalaman this summer, take loads of cash for your return journey, or better still, eat before you get there!

Dalyan was still great though, but there are more and more Brits there every year (the €/£ thing I guess) - as a result we may be looking for a new location for our villa shortly...

Aha, so I did, but shirley a fair excuse is that you posted your warning after my contribution, non? My mind is clearly weakened by way too much 40 degree heat, Efes, and Lamb anything, over the last two weeks.

I shall learn to read threads I contribute to more carefully wink!

I was in Atlanta airport a few days ago. Surprised how cheap the food was. $2.70 for a Mac D happy meal and $5 for a bloody huge chicken salad.

A bottle of water was expensive though -$3.50

Try £9 for a pint of Efes in Dalaman domestic terminal (last week) ! Plus it a complete sthole, especially compared to the International terminal. Istanbul was £8 for a beer although they were 70cl so I gave in at that point...

Absolutely criminal. We voted with our feet.
