Using USA Tuners
Discussion
Hi All
Has anyone used tuners or parts from over the pond? I know that our VXR8 is basically the same as their Pontiac G8 GXP.
To start with I am only planning a remap of the ECM and TCM (as I have an auto).
From looking at the tuner websites in the UK they only advertise packages and not selling these individually.
Anyone in UK do this at a reasonable price? In the US you buy the kit and they email you the tunes as you add the mods.
Thanks

Obviously a remap from the US would carry more risks than from a local source.
At least if you get your own car remapped by someone competent over here....it will be correct for your car. Not a guess from 5000 miles away.
Certainly parts arent a problem. Most of the good bits will come from either the US or Oz anyway, and the local "tuners" just import them.
Although some of them here do get the stuff made within the UK.

Ive used sdpc, thunder racing, lg motorsports, summit racing etc.
All fine to deal with. Depends if you are a diy sort or not.
No point getting a US mail order tune. As above get a local dyno tune for best results.
Or you can even roll your own with a tune tool if you are so minded. I tune my own stuff for example and get higher BHP ratings than most/all of the other tuners on a like for like basis.
But Im sure I put in substantially more time into my tunes which wouldnt be cost effective for a tune shop.

Well its petrol. But their ratings are RON+MON/2 rather than straight RON.
I think 95 RON is like 91 R+M/N and 98 is like 93 US Octane, though I dont think its an exact match.
So yeah, they will probably give you a tune for their weird octane ratings which you will have to use the best match for.
