Update from the crash

I've spoken to Richard tonight, Ben is out of hospital with minor cuts and bruises and what will no doubt become a large headacre. He says a big thankyou to all who helped on the afternoon both with Ben and the car.

Hope Owen isn't too sore, plus I hope those keys turned up.

Anyway lets hope Angelsey isn;t as dramatic.

Great news Phil.

John was very subdued telling me about what happened which sounded pretty horific. i think everyone has had a bit of a fright over this one.

I am very happy that everyone is OK.

I spoke to Richard this morning and Ben is OK. Battered and bruised, but he had 2 CT scans last night and has been given the all clear. Like Phil said, he cant remember much about it.

It was a pretty horrific accident. Ive spoken to Warren at Topcats and my car is totalled, the rollcage snapped in 4 places and its basically scrap now. I dont think youll be seeing me for the rest of this season, although I will endeavour to bust some moves at the end of season do.

All in all a scary moment but a testament to the strength of the cars. I would also ike to thank the marshalls and medical staff at Combe who were excellent, and a big thank you on behalf of Ellie and I to al of you who helped us out at the end of the day and who looked after ellie post accident. Youre a great bunch of people to be racing with.

Hi,guys good to hear everyone is on the way to recovery. The jungle drums were working overtime and i got to hear about it fairly quickly over here in dublin....

i got a text from richard to say they had released ben from hospital after some fairly thorough checks which is great news....


I'll catch up with everyone soon. oh and owen avoid comedy shows for a while you dont want to be laughing with busted ribs believe me!!!

Pleased to hear everyone's ok. What happened did the 2 cars touch, or separate incidents ? Not a t-bone job I hope - I've done that in the past and its not pleasant.

Although I could only make the first race on Sunday it was good fun to be out with you all again and I hope that all parties make it back out on track asap.

Any new on Dean's car, as the other two did not look repairable.

I've already been in touch with Owen direct. Ben - hope you make a speedy recovery. Cars can be repaired or replaced, people are much more important.

Keep safe out there gents. Don't ever be tempted not to wear full length fire proof undies no matter how hot it is or whether you are just doing a little shakedown test.

It will be nice to meet up with everyone again at Anglesey or Oulton and smile, maybe even share some jokes and reflect on the weekends twist of fate. Fortune has favoured us in that regard.

For me, the 2nd race incident hit home this morning and I now realise how fortunate we all were.

I hope when the aches and pains subised, we are all (Dean, Ben, Owen and family especially) the same folk we were some 26 hours ago and there are no mental scars.

Hi all, im very happy to hear that owen and ben are on the mend from race 2 (and dean from race 1), it was horrible to watch the carnage unfold from the edge of the track knowing we couldnt help or warn any drivers,(although we tried franticly!) i was very impressed with all of the marshals who atended the scene, they did a sterling job!
This just goes to show the tight knit community you racers have as everyone helped out where the could....well done to all!

Im also thinking that maybe "Burnside" wasn't a wise choice of sponsor. I may move him to the boot for next year.

I'm very happy to hear that Ben and Owen are well on the way to full recovery from this incident. I have spoken to Dean and apart from a large head ache he is just a bit stiff. Shame the same can't be said for the cars involved!!! But they can be repaired or replaced! I have not spent much time around the pit lane or paddock with you guys but I know that none of you could be replaced!!! I'll inform Dan Taylor He's got a lot of work to do when he gets back of honeymoon!!

I did see your sponsor and had the same thought when we saw what was left of your car, although ironically, that side wasn't too bad. Glad you can smile about these things and glad to hear you are well. You gave us all a bit of a fright you know!
