I saw this advert this morning, so thought i'd have a bit of fun:

2006 Tuscan £5,340.
An absolute bargain, i have to have it biggrin Before i hand over my money, i though i'd better ask a few probing questions... like why is it so cheap?

Here is the answer i have received

Hi,

The 2006 TVR TUSCAN 4.0 2S 2dr Targa Coupeþþ in showroom condition with 18,800 miles is still for sale. A great car, never implied in any accident, in excellent condition with full service history. VRM number is YJ56 TDV.

My job put me on the way to ENGLAND and I purchased this car there. Now I have to sell it as I've got back home in GERMANY. The car is here as well.

The final price is £5,340+ shipping to your door. For an accurate shipping cost please include your shipping address in your next email.

As you probably noticed, the price is rather low. But since it's a right hand drive car, not even a dealer will offer me a better price here. The fact that it's still UK registered did not help either.

I am the registered keeper and there is no outstanding finance on the vehicle. The car is in excellent condition, the bodywork is immaculate, no scratches, dents or hidden defects as well as the interior in excellent non-smoking condition.

Due to amount involved and due the fact I am not located in United Kingdom anymore, I only accept third party transaction mediator ... and I am talking about eBay.

All documents, including V5 log book on your name will be provided along with the car.

Please email me soon if you want to move forward and let me know if you need anything else.
All the best Rupert Fielden !
So, i reckon it's got to be worth a trip over to Germany to save on the shipping...any other ideas?

"Rupert Fieldon" - i'll give him 8/10 for originality though.

Anyone else have visions of the Stephen Fry character in Blackadder 4 when they read that? Baaaaah!

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

Good news!

I know that you must be concerned about the security of payment, well I will be in Germany next week, and could come and collect the car to save on shipping, and will bring cash with me.

Where can i come and meet you and see the car?

Sent him this, got a stupid standard response, do they think we were born yesterday? Does anyone actually fall for this crap?

"Rupes you love hound,

Can you confirm this is indeed the rare four seater Tuscan or at least if not confirm if it is possible to install two more seats in the back of said vehicle? My wife will not allow the purchase of a car in which we cannot successfully perform acts of oral love on each other in a comfortable and safe manner.

I will be looking to have the car delivered to my uncle Zenith, a music and art critic from Bromsgrove. Please work out delivery costs to this general area.

Great stuff and all that,

Bran Flake"

Response-

"Hi again,

I want to point out that because i am in the process of moving because of changing my working place, i am after a fast transaction, with no delays. That is why i decided to lower the price, to avoid wasting time with negotiations and find a buyer as soon as possible.

As i told you , I'm curently out of the country. At the moment I'm in Munich on business and the car is located at the shipping company in Hamburg.

The car will be insured at the shipping company for the transport. I already have the car on shipping co. posession along with ALL doc ready to GO so will be no local pick up available.

I already obtain the costs for delivery the car back to UK. Its are £280, including insurance, so your total will be £5,620.

HPI CLEAR : The car shows all clear on the hpi report as having no outstanding finance, has never been an insurance write off or stolen. VRM number is YJ56 TOV

DOCUMENTS : The delivery agent will take care of all the papers. V5 LOGBOOK, 2x keys, service book & bookpack are provided. Everything will be sent along with the car. The delivery will take between 2 to 4 working days, door-to-door .

I will only conclude the transaction through eBay for our own protection. They act as a neutral third party. I shall explain to you the process, so that you know what you are getting into!

If we decide to proceed with this transaction, i will have to contact eBay and provide them all the necessary information, so they can start the process right away. I will be needing your eBay user name, your full name, address for delivery and phone number for that. You will receive a notification from eBay shortly after that, together with all the instructions to follow and the invoice as well.

Regarding the payment, you will be instructed to deposit the money to an eBay account. They will hold and insure your money until receipt of the car in good condition. That is how their buyer protection policy is working. As far as the seller concerns, i will be glad to know that eBay has the possession of the money during the delivery period. That is my insurance.

As soon as i will have the confirmation from eBay that the funds have been deposited to their account, i will immediately start the shipping process. The car will be delivered to your address in no more than 3 working days. You will be given a 15 days inspection period from the day you receive the car at home.

If you decide to hold the car, then you will have to authorize eBay to release the funds to me, and the transaction will be completed. If you will not be satisfied with the car, you will be able to send the car back through the same shipping company, and ask eBay to return the funds to you. Though i am
sure you will love the car and will not want to return it, it is good to know that you do have this second option available.

If you wish to proceed with the purchase, please provide me your eBay user name, your full name, address for delivery and phone number so I can initiate the deal through eBay right away.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Warm Regards, Rupert."

Next installment, wonder what'll come back next?..

"Ruper-dooper-doo,

I notice from your swiftly typed nonsensical reply that you have completely ignored my previous question. Although it may not seem like a big issue to many car enthusiasts my wife will not let me chow down anywhere but in the rear seat- this all stems from an unfortunate accident we had in an Isetta back in 1979. Let's just say life in general has been a struggle since that day. It's taking me all my time to convince her indoors to let me buy the car, and your avoidance of the question isn't helping matters you knob jockey.

I'm having to sell my one remaining kidney to finance the Tuscan- can you tell me if it has room for a dialysis machine and a scantily-clad nurse?

Instead of fart-arsing around through the medium of ebay why don't i take a flight out to Hamburg with the cash and collect the car from your shipper directly? It's been a while since i visited my old German nanny, Frau Tabitha- she has glue ear so can't readily communicate on the telephone. I'll even pop to see you if it's convenient, i'd like to discuss further the attributes of the Tuscan. I imagine you'll probably be away that week on business in Kuala Lumpur or similar, but all the same it's the thought that counts. Just so i know i'm not making a wasted trip to Hamburg, would you consider sending me one of your testicles on ice as a kind of security? It would put my mind at rest.

Big love,

Jereboam

PS- Do you wear a sygnet ring and hessian underpants?"
