Silverstone Paddock Camping

Any one know if there is there much in the way of grass areas for sticking a tent up in the Silverstone paddock area?

Also if I roll up around 20:00 on the Friday night will the circuit be locked or open for access - race meeting is Saturday and Sunday with a test day on Friday?

Not a lot in the way of camping within the paddock itself, but plenty of sites nearby.

Silverstone are generally very good - there will no doubt be access to the paddock on Friday night. Its guarded though, so you will need your passes.

fairly certain you cannot gain access to the testday the evening before, you have to park up outside in the car parks.


there is some grass out the back of the extended paddock where you can pitcha tent.

Hi Nick,

If you look on Google Maps and switch to the satellite view you can see the grassy areas at the back of the paddock.

There will be quite a few of us there on the Friday night - testing Friday then racing Saturday. Come over to the RGB bit of the paddock and say hello, we'll be hanging round having a couple of beers. Or frantically doing an engine swap depending on how testing has gone ...

Thanks Bob, good idea. It looks like I will be racing with some of you on Saturday and possibly qualifying too so appreciate the invite. I've been recapping on your first race day from last year on your excellent blog, plenty of good comments for a first outing to pick up on.

You're not wrong, it was really cold in the early hours. Soon warmed up on the Saturday though....
