Just over a couple of months ago I twisted my left angle (for the third time in two years!). It wasn't too bad a twist and I just rested, iced etc for a few weeks. However, lately it's started to ache a bit. It's not what I'd describe as pain but I can feel it's not quite right. It's not stopping me doing my normal things (walking driving etc) or even exercising (mountain biking, hiking) but it's kind of annoying having this dull ache all the time.

Is it worth seeing my GP and getting a referral to a specialist? Or is there some kind of stretching/exercising I can do to help it feel more normal?

cheers smile

Where does it hurt exactly?

The structures around the ankle can often takes months and months to become 100% pain free, and sometimes never do.

Mainly on the left side (outside) of the ankle, near the heel. Pretty much the same as this chap:

I've twisted the left one three times and the right one twice (I seem to have weak ankles frown), and this is the first time there's been a dull ache months later; they normally get back to normal, perhaps with slightly less movement than before but never any pain.

It might be worth talking to your GP and getting a referral to a physiotherapist - they will be able to examine your ankles and should have some stretches and exercises you can do to help them heal and hopefully help stop it happening again. smile

UPDATE

Well, my GP couldn't spot anything wrong with the movement I have in the ankle and despite all the twisting she gave it, I wasn't in any pain. It's just a continual dull ache/pain that comes and goes throughout the day.

At least I've been referred to the local physio, so we'll see what he says. The first appointment I can get is 14th September though.....
