OK here's the question. In terms of quality, performance, air flow etc what is the difference between the Wortec headers and full system that Monkfish fitted to our car, and the LS3 headers that come as standard on the new VXR8's?
Other than the improvement in sound would there be another any benefit in upgrading to a Wortec system from standard on the new VXR8?

So you are buying a VXR8 then??
I know Monkfish could tell me. They could answer most of the questions asked on here but they're busy men and after all this is what a forum is all about
As for getting a VXR8, yes its pretty much definite that we will be getting one within the next couple of months. We just have a couple of things to iron out first. Col will be definitely be taking it straight to Monkfish for the Wortec as we couldn't live with it quiet. I really wanted the stats on it as a comparison between Stigs new R8 and our Wortec Ro with regards the systems quality, airflow etc.
TIA

Mel,
Having run mine with catback only and now full headers/cats I can confirm they are well worth the money. Noise is one thing but you will see circa 25ftlbs torque and circa 19bhp gains.
Remember the LS3 has much better heads aswell meaning better flow..
I bow to any other expertise that wish to comment.

What performance and airflow do you need?
Im sure the wortec is better than stock for those. But Id have thought the stock exhaust would be more durable.
But what power goals are you interested in?
(ie) If you have a 1 bed house then a 2 or 3 bed house will be much more spacious and relaxing. But if you need a 4 bed house then they are still both pointless.
Talk to whoever is supplying and let them what you are after is the best policy

All i need is for our cars to sound great and have the best possible air flow. How does the full Wortec system with headers we've just had fitted on out CV8 compare to the standard headers and exhaust that come with the new VXR8?????? That's it.
sam (painterman) has vxr8 , wortec /but not headers and it was easly the loudest car at last south east meet ..sounds the

Ah if you mean for stock, then ok. Id argue best possible is 1-7/8 and dual 3" exhaust even on a stock engine.Especially if its an LS3.
There probably isnt much point swapping the 2.5" catback for another one for airflow unless you also increase the diameter.
Full length headers will definately help though.
The VXR8 stuff is much better than the old Monaro stuff its got shorty headers from new and a fairly decent exhaust. Afterall HSV fit a performance exhaust compared to the stock Holden setup.
You know me Mel, nothing is simple

I know what you are saying mel, is the stock vxr8 system comparible in performance flow to the the aftermarket system you have on your Monaro. IE just how good is stock vxr8 set up?
Well no idea, it certainly sounds quieter than yours will but it isnt muted. I actually really rate the sound from it purely for the fact that you get the proper engine induction noise which is fantastically adictive. I am liking it so much I am hesitant to actually replace the system. Without looking I would be willing to hazard a guess you could get the performance figures quoted above with just a remap for a cat back system just not the same level of noise.
What I want to know is from VXR8 owners who have gone to cat backs, do you lose that glorious induction noise due to the extra exhaust noise? I love the stock set up so much that I really dont want to ruin it with the catbacks, despite how good they sound. Would I replace the headers? No, not a chance - the cost for them isnt worth it for what I am after. It would be $ for noise. I may go cat back bi-modal/switchable but only if when on quiet I wont lose that induction noise and grumble. Also I do not miss the drone that the old systems give at motorway speeds, its actually nice to just have that engine noise on throttle and quiet all other times

Yeah, I would say the stock catback was just as good flow wise.
Headers maybe not quite so good as they are short so would work better at higher rpm in general.
It would be interested to see the difference with a fully tuned stock exhaust compared to an aftermarket one.
Not quite like for like, but my totally stock vxr8 exhaust gave me 360rwhp with just a set of roller rockers.
The next closest person was Donk with 340rwhp and most were around 320rwhp fully tuned with catbacks. A 40rwhp difference.
Totally stock was 300rwhp or so IIRC.
Perhaps we can do a little competition
Stig and I can tune his car up totally stock and see if we can beat some of the other packages with full exhausts and tunes at the next dyno day. Id like to think we can get 370rwhp out of the stock setup LS3.
