there should be a "running in" service 400 miles either side of 1200 miles ie, between 800 and 1600 miles, DONT touch a car without this done.
then an inspection 1, then oil servive, then inspection 2, oil service etc etc.

As a guide mine shows about 9000 miles to a oil service and has done 48000 miles.

^There should be an Oil Service between the Running-In Service and Inspection I.

2 stamps in 6 years?

Even if the car has only covered 15k miles, I'd still walk. I'd want to see a stamp every year regardless of the mileage.

The service book says that the service intervals are not fixed as the car takes into consideration of how it's driven.

There will be a mileage countdown when you start the car to show the miles remaining until an Oil Service or Inspection is due.

If the car does less than 6000 miles per year, it is advised that the oil is changed every 2 years and bodywork checked.

Brake fluid needs changing every 2 years and coolant every 3 years.

The car needs a running in service at 1200 miles, miss that and you could have problems later on and any goodwill support from BMW is pulled.

Now down to 300 miles over as far as BMW are concerned, so up to 1500 miles.
You have to decide if that is important or not depending on whether you want to add a warranty, even warranty direct will not cover a car with this missed.

Then the car needs a service every 2500 litres of petrol used or 2 years, which ever comes first.

So a 2003 car should have.....

running in 2003
oil 2005
inspection I 2007
oil 2009

.....at the very minimum.

Totally right, mine is a sept 2002 car, currently with 46k.
Its had six services inc the running in service plus 2 coolant & 2 brake fluid changes.
