..................and by that I mean genuinely completely and totally happy with your lot? Rather than happy in a specific moment or happy for someone close to you. Are you happy in your job, in your relationship, with you family life, with your position/place in society etc etc? I ask the question because sadly I couldn’t remember the last time I was.

I’m not an ungrateful guy, neither am I a crazed benefit consuming chav etc.... I am going to be thirty this year and just feel like there is supposed to be more to life than this. Is it just me? Does anyone else feel the same? What’s your answer to the question? I am not an ungrateful guy, and whilst I appreciate to many I may lead a privileged life in comparison to people in the developing world or even many people here in the UK (as in I have a roof over my head and food in the fridge etc)...I cant help but feel massive disappointment and unhappiness on so many levels.................

I have been thinking about this for a while, would be intersting to see the concensus.... but not sure what i expect to happen as a result of asking the question.... anyway thanks in advance.

We all feel like this in our thirties.

It will get better mate. In the meantime, drink through it.

Feel the same at times..but recognising what needs to change and how to go about it, is a difficult thing.

Most days - but I work for myself and don't have to put up with other people while I'm working.

However... working for myself means nobody else will put up with the hours I put into my job!

Winning on the swings - loosing on the roundabout!

no, I'm not a playground supervisor!

About a year ago I did. reasonably secure/paid job, always having a laugh and a women to shag when I needed it.

Now I have no job, drive a rust bucket and keep getting so pissed I make a complete twunt out of myself in front of people that a) I have only just met and b) are complete strangers. ( I can think of 3 occasions in the last 2 weeks where this has happenedmad)

/sigh

+1.

No complaints, life is fun, I adore my wife, she adores me, and we have a roof over our heads. Luckily, we've both got great families, too.

We enjoy what we do by day, and love our time together in the evenings and on weekends. We don't roll in cash, in fact we don't have much left after bills, fuel & food, but occasionally have a bit extra enjoy a treat or two.

Can't ask for more than that, I don't think. Wanting anything else would be just materialistic. LP560 wouldn't be grumbled at, though..hehe

Should your objective in life be personal happiness? Maybe you should try to find some sort of higher purpose (and no I don't mean god). I used to be very unhappy with my lot, and decided to try to make other people happy. In doing so, you will feel more happy.

Feel free to invent your own selfless objective, and work towards it. At the very worst, you can be miserable while trying to make other people happier.

Or you could try religion.

Get out of the house more. Get a physical hobby.

Maybe you are expecting too much from life. The world does not exist to make you happy.

yer I can vouch for that mate!

I don't think any less of you, just looked like you had a good night but maybe started a little to early. If you stayed you wouldn't have been the only one.

You seemed like a thouroughly nice chap beforehand.

I just realised yesterday afternoon, that I am the happiest I have been for a very long time. Not sure if it's just because the last few months have been so terrible, or if I have finally reached where I want to be in my life?

But at the mo life is bloody good

Yep that's me just jinxed myself rolleyes

For some strange reason whenever I say to myself that im really happy and everything is good, something really stty tends to happen, and spoils it. So I try not to think about it to much. (if that makes sense)
