GF goes to get a tooth out tomorrow - wisdom so she probably won't be 'comfortable'. Will she feel like eating at all? I assume a nice chewy steak would be a bad idea wink Was thinking of bringing some non-bitty soup, something easy?

No she won't feel like eating at all.

She probably won't fancy anything hot either - suggest you get soup, ice-cream and yogurt if only to score brownie points.

She should gargle with water as hot and salty as she can manage which worked really well for me, the salt tended to stay with me though and everything tasted of that for a couple of days.

Coming from someone who's had several ops on my jaw (inc Wisdom teeth out) I'd recommend Soup, Mashed Potato, Protein/Weight gain drinks (Complan from a pharmacy is also pretty good). Don't try to drink from a straw as it puts everything under pressure.

The main thing to do is to eat/drink enough calories so that she doesn't feel weak.. as this only makes things worse.

On a positive note...wisdoms out can be relatively painless/easy to recover from, and at worst she'll be fine in a couple of weeks. Good luck!

When I had one out I was advised not to eat anything for a couple of days as I basically had a raw wond in my mouth. I couldn't bare that so just had lots of soup and soft bread. I just ensured my mouth was swilled out all the time.
