I ordered a cheap R/C plane for my son, something ready to fly for him to crash a bit and learn. £35. Along with it I ordered some batteries. When I went to collect it from the post office only the batteries were there and both the chap in the post office and I assumed that there would be a seperate shipment for the plane. But when the 'plane didn't arrive I called Maplin.

Maplin said it was dispatched at the same time as the batteries and must have got lost in the post. They would send another out straight away.

No messing with lost parcels, no quizzing me as to if I might have had it (crashed it) and been trying to con them out of a second one, just instant "we'll send another".

I guess for the cost of the 'plane and the cost of customer service it's the sensible thing to do, but it was so nice to be treated well.

Did you get two planes?

And if you did/do then will you send one back?

This is the mail order conscience dilemma of our society today.

I only spoke to them yesterday, so I've not had any yet. If I do get two I'll phone them and tell them. If they are going to treat me honestly and responsibly I'm bound to do the same.

This is admirable. Well done!

I fear I would not do the same. Simply because I could not bring myself walk into a Post Office and queue up unless there was significant gain or reward to myself.

Have bought a few things from Maplins and always had a good experience. Most of the time everything 100% perfect. When something goes wrong they sort it out immediately.

Maplins, one of the "Good Guys"

Amazon also. Very good.

Ive had good experience with maplins too.

Wouldnt suprise me if they said not to worry about it and keep both, the price they pay for them kind of things is rather low (ie they have a large profit margin) so i cant see them being all that bothered aslong as you are honest about it.

My mum made a complaint to Argos about one of their delivery drivers making her intentionally late for work, she got a £10 voucher (she wasnt expecting anything, she was just royally pissed off that the delivery driver was so spiteful) her letter then must have got into someone elses hands higher up, as she received another £10 voucher a few days after the first, being honest my mum rang them up and told them, they said they had noticed the error and were going to cancel one of the vouchers but as she had rang up and been so honest they would honor both vouchers, they also told her that the driver had had other further complaints made against him and was being disciplined.
