Good service from VX!!!
Discussion
Now, my experience with VX hasn't been great so far. When I bought my Monaro from a dealership that rhymes with Clarnold Ark it was just about the worst sales experience I'd had in all the years I've been driving and have avoided all contact with VX since. However.....
last week the clutch on the Ro expired quickly over a period of 24 hours and I was left looking for a replacement. After making a few calls it transpired that LS1 and LS7 clutches were on their way into the country but yet to arrive. I called my local dealership, Lookers in Warrington, to see if they could help me. I spoke to the parts guy and he came back with a price for me. The conversation went something like this,
VX - "We can get a clutch for your car Sir, it'll be 1100 quid plus fitting."
Me - "Are you sure that's the right part? B***r M****t in manchester quoted me under 500 and they're not usually cheap."
A bit of back and forth in the above theme then,
VX - "I don't make mistakes, I've been doing this 37 years."
End of call.
I was not happy on several counts and rang the general manager to complain. I was put through to Jaime the Service manager and to be honest that was the point at which my experience changed.
Jaime was very apologetic and told me that Mr. "I'm never wrong" was, and the correct price was only 330. He invited me to bring the car down for a free inspection which I did.
I was met personally and when the car was up on the ramp I was introduced to Allan the Monaro specialist who took me under the car and talked me through the problem and what had caused it.
The only snag was they too were unable to get hold of a clutch, however when i found one through Real Steal.co.uk and Lookers were happy to fit it. I was given a courtesy car there and then for the duration of the repair and a discounted hourly rate.
The cars' now back on the road and I'm having to rethink where it gets serviced in future.
The moral of the story is if you go to VX ask to speak to the Service manager. He's keen to have the business on VXs' flagship product and has the ability to negotiate on rates.
