As an prowd : owner of a Holden product ( Pontiac GTO 2006 ) from the Netherlands, I like to buy a LHD HSV driving . I asked HSV for it, but they keep on refusing rolleyes to build one. They recommended to ask Walkingshaw Performance ( they forwarded type my enquiry) but after 4 mounth still no confused answer. I'll have to look for a pontiac G8 GXP (USA) or confused a Chevrolet CR8 Chevrolet Special Vehicles (Dubai). see www.chevroletarabia.com
Can someone please tell me the difference between a HSV Clubsport R8 and a Chevrolet CSV CR8, and is it possible to transform ( also technical) the CSV to a HSV? The look cool alike ( e.g. different dashboard), but it's almost inpossible to get the proper read information. Thx, byebye

They are the same car, except HSV have added a few bits and pieces. There is no reason why you couldn't get one of them up to HSV standard, (if not better). You can get all the HSV bits for them, to do them yourself. Just need a big bank account to get them from Oz.

Ah, cool that you are in the netherlands... heading that way in a few weeks to a place 40km north of Haarlem. Will have mrs and dog in tow... Have to have the extra holiday so that the dog can come back into the UK... DOH!

I think you should buy one from the middle east if you want closer to HSV spec. The GXP is more like an SS level of spec by the looks.
Just compare prices and spec's from both and arrange shipping.
That being said. A GXP is probably easier to arrange shipping and communications for. However they are not making or importing any more GXP's so you might not find any. The CR8 might be a little easier to come by.

Thx : guy's for the quick reactions. I first have to inform type what the costs are for both cars; scratchchin the Pontiac has the nicer dash blah, the Chevrolet the best looks cool . I'll let know if I know more. Will also try again to get in contact phone with Walkinshaw Performance. I'd love a LHD HSV Clubsport R8 Tourer.

For Raggyman: Nice colour your SS; My GTO is also Quick Silver, and has a red interior. Will try to get a picture on this site, but don't know how do do.
I'm living in the south of the netherlands ( Eindhoven) and my vacation is ending this week, otherwise I would visit driving you on your holiday adres to look at your beer Holden.

Regards, byebye Peter.

Pretty sure the Chevrolet Special Vehicles CR8 is or was near identical to a HSV R8/Vauxhall VXR8. I am not sure if they still export them or not. The Lumina SS is still there, that I can find on their website. I think they use different petrol in the middle east so you might have to look into swapping some things over like the tune or something like that. I believe the normal Holden variants got bigger aircon stuff or cooling stuff to cope with the heat over there too. Rustproofing would probably be a good idea too.

As mentioned the Pontiac G8 GXP is more a Holden Commodore SS with a 6.2 LS3. It doesn't have all the bodywork or interior of the HSV versions but it does have more of the mechanicals of the HSV R8 than the Holden Commodore SS/Lumina SS.

A tourer I assume that is the wagon/estate you are talking about? I haven't seen a HSV one on the road yet but there are plenty of the Holden garden variety ones over here. They sold like hotcakes when they released them here. The SS and Calais wagons are very popular.
I think you would be very lucky to find a LHD wagon as I don't think they make them at all for any export market.

I assume the GTO came from the US, I would say you might have to source a G8 GT or G8 GXP via the same route. However, as also mentioned, you might have to be quick about it as they are supposedly stopping the exports to the USA.
There have been on again, off again rumours of the Commodore showing up as a Chevrolet in the USA. I am not sure on the latest update on that. The Chevrolet version would be a lot easier to do as they wouldn't have to change too much. The cars are sold as Chevrolets in the Middle East and South Africa amongst a few so they have all the badging etc already! Chevrolet badging in Australia is a very popular pastime!!!!! One of my cars was but not the current ones!

www.mellor.net/ is a good place to get the latest news on exports etc. They issue a free newsletter every week which you can subscribe too.

THX guy's for the mainly serious type comments/ reactions. The main reason I want a HSV is because I think it's a beautifull car without a being a status symbol bigmouth (I don't need that, and nobody in the Netherlands knows confused what a HSV is and I like to keep rolleyes it that way). Further there is the fact that after one Holden cool (sorry; Pontiac GTO 2006) I want an other one with that big snoring V8. It puts a smile hehe on your face like a mussle car should do!
And yes, Top Gear driving was enthusiast about as well the Monaro/ VXR as the VXR8, and that strengthened yes the wish to want one. So why not buy one?
I gave the order to my dealer to inform phone about a CSV CR8 from Dubai and he has to look scratchchin if it is possible to convert the mid end of the dash to VXR8 specifications (from a wrecked VXR8 donor car ?), so then I have the dual climate controle and a GPS integrated. I hope that they have a CO2 label in Dubai for the CR8, because we need that for the Dutch judge registration !!

With kind regards, byebye,

Peter.

I think you will find a stamp somewhere with the ADR standards smash, one of which is EuroIII or maybe even EuroIV emissions compliance. I had a copy of it somewhere around. But you can probably ask Holden phone for a copy of its ADR (Australian Design Regulations nerd ) that it meets.

That should help you import it as Im pretty sure they are equivalent to most European standards. Except of course the Middle East one might not run cats or something. yikes

Also why not just drive it with the normal interior!? You can worry about tarting it up later. cloud9

Well Bonnie & Clyde, I'll like to be your Pen Pal type . But don't expect a busy writing, because I'm not that much home in c. with my 60+ hour job.
But it would be nice bow to hear some time from a fellow Holden driving Monaro owner ! Regards, byebye Peter.
