I got a Seiko Automatic Diver's for Christmas the year before last (as in Christmas 2007) and since then, have used it as my 'watersports' watch without any problems. The rotating bezel however, seems to have decided that now is the time to break and it doesn't require too much pressure to rotate it the 'wrong' way, which sort of renders it pretty useless for timing things.

I know it's out of warranty but IMO a year and a half before the thing breaks is fairly poor show and would quite like to send it back and see what they make of it.

Has anyone had any experience with Seiko standing by the quality of their goods and repairing this sort of thing as a goodwill gesture or an I on a hiding to nothing?

I thought Seikos officially released in a market were 2 or 3 years. If it was a grey import from ''CrazySeikoDave'' on ebay then it's just a year.

That's assuming the manual is stamped.

That's interesting. I've dug out the case and it has a "Certificate of Guarantee" from SEIKO that is stamped by Chronograph.com (where it came from) and has the date, serial number and name of the purchaser on it (unfortunately my ex - will that be a problem?).

It doesn't specifically mention 1 or 2 years worth of warranty though - what should I do with all this?

ETA - Is Chronograph.com an authorised SEIKO retailer? According to SEIKO UK, if they aren't, I have no warranty and if they are, I get two years warranty...
