I like the rain delay Nascar races! much better to watch live on a Monday evening then on a busy Sunday when there is too much else going on.

Aside from the over-the-top sponsorship and general Americanism of it all, I've really come around to NASCAR and Indycar in the last few months.
I used to think it was just driving around in circles. But I've seen how wrong I was. In many respects, ovals are better than road-tracks, as the racing is closer and opportunities to over-take are rife. However, the road-tracks are alright too.
Huge shunt for Gordon there! The most damning of all is the onboard footage.

Yes I've been watching it for about 2 years. Once you get used to their need to close the field up every so often - throwing a full course yellow should a driver spit out of the window onto the track etc. it is quite interesting. I imagine they think our 'equalising' system of success ballast and reverse grids are equally weird!!

Always been a fan of CART/Indycar/IRL or whatever it's been called (even during the split years), but always been a bit hit and miss with NASCAR. I can watch the superspeedway races, but the million lap half milers are too much for me. I love the road course events however, as there's always that added "right turn!" element, and it's interesting to see how the oval boys cope. Watched the Nationwide race as well, and that was pretty good. Hats off to Marcus Ambrose for a win and second place over the weekend. Maybe Aussie V8s to NASCAR will become a career path, who knows? The ICS seems to be gradually getting back on track after the reunification, but there are still one or two shocking drivers out there. That and the Danica hype is really annoying.

Always watch the nascar and indycar....in fact look forward to it more than f1

Also prefer ovals.....is nothing like indycars on a superspeedway side by side and 230mph almost touching to get the heart racing

I'd like to agree but indycars are leaving me cold these days, never seem to run side by side any more and overtaking is scarce even on the ovals where it's supposed to be eminently possible.

Add in the fact that Wheldon, former champion and seemingly unbeatable for a time on ovals, is tugging around at the rear for want of a top-2 team and a crew chief, in a one-make one-engine formula, and the interest palls further.

Add in the Danica obsession and the commentator who dully delivers a deadpan "wow" as soon as anything happens (or indeed nothing noticeable at all happens) and it's unwatchable IMO.

NASCAR has grabbed me, though, and although I haven't seen my recording of this race yet I'm looking forward to catching up with it over a beer tonight.

Kentucky was a good oval race, as I think they made some changes after a previous snorefest (Richmond?) with aero and "push to pass". I'm not a huge oval fan generally, and the original format IRL did get tedious, but now it's looking a lot more like CART of old with a great variety of tracks, it's getting more interesting again - just look at Ed Carpenter oh so nearly winning at Kentucky, having spent most of the season looking like a deer in the headlights. Quality control is still a bit poor, but CART at its peak had Hiro tooling round at the back getting in the way, so that's nothing new. That said, they need to park Milka Duno before she kills someone. As for Wheldon, I've never really warmed to him for some reason. Much rather cheer on Wilson or hope Conway keeps it out of the wall long enough to get a good result, as he's looked promising at times this season. The Danica obsession is tedious, but I suppose it's the most obvious marketing spin while the series is trying to rebuild. Until she jumps ship to NASCAR that is.
