Not sure. Is the parcel about a foot square and very thin?

Obviously, this joke is rendered obsolete by the ubiquity of CDs and the lack of vinyl. I apologise.

As the search function is pathetic, I can't find the thread.

But I started a thread around a year ago when our post arrived after 6pm... (and we live in a large town, 1 mile from a major sorting office)

And to think the Victorians could get a letter to anywhere in the country in 1-2 days for just 1d (0.5p) using steam trains and horses.

I work from home, an option you failed to consider. The letter box is 15 feet from my desk; ergo, I hear the post arrive. And whilst I agree over half is junk, sometimes some of it is important - and then I only have 1-2 hours to get a reply in the post - because they made the last collection much earlier too. And there's always a queue at the counter because now everything has to be weighed and measured so you can't buy stamnps in adavance and they spend considerable time tapping things into a machine and looking confused while the queue builds up...
