Have a listen to this. It's a sine wave.

DO NOT READ BEYOND THIS UNTIL YOU'VE LISTENED TO THE SAMPLE

Now listen to it again - it was a sunny day and the children were going to the park.

Clever eh.

Pareidolia is why the tin-foil hate brigade hear EVP or Satanic voices when they play records backward. It's also one theory why we see ghosts and other spooky stiff out of our eye corner. We're hard-wired that way.

Hhmmm - I'm not getting it. Just sounds a little like an old radio being tuned in. In the OP's example I can make out the syllabic beats of "It was a sunny day and the..." but I lose it towards the end. It's like trying to decode the speech of someone who is keeping their lips closed (IYKWIM).

Am I destined for a life of MI5 Covert Ops, or a few years in a padded cell?

He's saying nothing. It's from "Break on through to the other side". It's just played backwards.

The theory is that we are hard wired to pick out speech and animal / person visual imagery. We're actually too good at it for own good at times.

Here's another very famous example.
