Audio upgrade- I did it!
Discussion
I finally had the upgrade- my Chrissie present to myself... 2x 8 inch subs in the boot above the fuel tank pointing out into the cabin (vents removed) with an amp in the middle (again, above the petrol tank in the boot).
It was an incredibly tight fit, but not as tight as getting the 6 inch splits in the doors, after applying some square rubber stuff to dissipate reflected sound waves.
The last step (mm, can't afford it now, this last bit cost thousands (Aussie $)) is to replace the head unit- this should not pose too much of a problem, and I have picked out the Alpine phantom face unit. By the time I can afford that, a new version will be out!
Oh, yeah, it sounds great! Pictures and more details to come if anyone is interested....let me know

Sorry about the delay. Very boring shots are at-

hope you like them. The most interesting one will be inside the boot showing the rear of the subs seperated by the amp. I just haven't been assed to pull the cover off...

Nice one! I've been waiting for those pics - I've been thinking about putting some 6x9 JBLs I've got in the back of mine - if you can get 8" subs in then mine should fit easy, although mines an early car without the vents. I've swapped the fronts for fairly chunky Infinity jobbies with the original Pioneer grilles stuck over the top, but they're still no competition for the exhaust
