Spiders on a Griffith

Hi there folks

I'm looking at fitting a set of Spiders to my Griff
What size should I be fitting please ?

17" all round
18" all round
17" front 18" rear

I'd love to see any pictures of cars with them already fitted

Don't forget that they are 5 stud and you need an all round hub conversion as well.

They do indeed look nice. 17" & 18" Raceline RL7 but sadly no longer available.

Wrong mate.

Both 17" with 215/40 front and 245/40 in the back. I should know, the car sits in my garage...

They all look very nice !!

I'm keen to get rid of my Estorils as its starting to get difficult to get tyres in 15" and 16".
For that reason i'd probably go for the 18" spiders.

Any more pics out there of 18" spiders all round ??

Racelines look ace - what do you think the chances are of finding some secondhand ?

Amazing... So it's almost as good as the one that sits in my garage but with 18" 255/35 rears

Andy, I would say nil. Including mine I only knew of three Griffs equiped with Racelines and now with Bjiorn's car that makes four. The wheels were the same style as those used on the Cerb but they had 5 stud fittings and different offsets plus they were to my knowledge only available as 18" on Cerberas and 16" on the first few Tuscans. If you get a 5 x stud conversion, which you will need to anyway to fit Spiders, you could look into it but it would be a bit of a project. I bought mine directly from Raceline who cast them and then machined the offset to order. R...

Could be of interest if he gets the 5 stud conversion. So now I know that Racelines did indeed come in 16" (Tuscan), 17" and 18"

Now this is a good colour combination on the Griff. I like that one.

And if the Cerb in the background is yours as well, we have the same bad weather ride as well.


P.S.: I could imagine a swap from my Racelines to Estorils, just for originality reasons.

Andy, this come up on here quite frequently, have you searched the archives for 5 x stud conversions? Remember to also look in the Chimaera section. The Griff has different offset front to rear but also remember to factor into your calculations the fact that your replacement wheels will be almost certainly wider than the originals. I spent hours trawling through the net to get the right off-set and still got it slightly wrong, mainly thanks to bum advice from the factory! Either the Tuscan or the Cerbera also uses different offsets and the other uses the same front and rear but I'm not sure which! I put a few notes here (this was 9 years ago!) since then I've replaced the dampers with Nitrons and when we did that we removed the rear spacer so it's on 40mm offset 8"x18" rear whcih fit fine and effectivly 34mm front 8"x17" which still rub the lower wishbone, you can fit stops to the tie rods to prevent this but it also reduces the turning circle. http://www.greenbear.org.uk/The%20wheels.htm

I have fitted RL's alround. I prefer the way my car handles with 16-inch front wheels. Ran 18-inch Spiders for awhile but found the Tramlining really bad, so I have switch to 16" fronts and 17" rears.
I have another set of 16" RL's if anyone is interested.
