G50/52 Too Long?

I was just chatting with an Ultima GTR owner that mentioned his install of a G50/52 with an American Speed engine ended up being too long and sticking out the back end. He had to go to a G50/03 in order for it to fit. This was the first I had heard of the G50/52 not being compatible. Does anyone else have any experience with this or know what the issue may be?

no thats wrong ive recently fitted 2 SBC with a G50 52 with no issues...
ive also fitted a G50 20(6 speed so longer) with no issues, it is possible to move the engine forwards or backwards slightly with different mounts.

So he got rid of a 52 for a 03

I've got a g64/21 with LSD on the back of it - it's tight but the different engine mounts from real steel bring the whole set up forward by abouth an inch and a half. Nothing sticks out ooeerr

Yep my 52 fits with my LS7, so my bet is he needs other motor mounts to move the motor forward a bit.

in the current factory manual there is a description for this gear box and it requires moving the engine forward.

I have a G50/52 and the factory plates on a SBC that allow the motor to be mounted about an 1" forward in the chassis. Can make mounting a dry sump and the associated pulleys "fun". I have a Stewart stage 4 water pump that is longer than standard that requires that I make a modification to the firewall to change belts.

My CanAm is fitted with a dry sump SBC and G50/52, it runs an electric water pump, but it definitely all fits.
