What's the 100 amp fuse from?

I'm going to get a spare soon, but don't really want to mail order something where I will pay more for postage than the item. So I'm pretty sure that I can get one from my local motorfactors.

As in my previous thread they can get an alternator for me, where as 3 specialists have told me that they are no longer produced.

didn't we come to the conclusion that it was probably the wrong one fitted the other year when MA was having a poke about

Weeelllll, it's sort of been fine for a while now, but I never got over the whole charging light on thing and I'm off on a long trip week after next and want to make sure it's ok.

Since I've been paying more attention to the volt meter I've noticed things don't look so great.

Also I was going to change it, but since our garage burnt down I lost the original.

What exactly do the 100 Amp fuses control ? Is it just engine electrics or the whole car ?

I've always assumed that mine had one in the usual place on the underside attached to the chassis rail, but I recently noticed one in the passenger footwell too. Are these in line or do they cover separate circuits ?

So if one or both had blown, what would the symptoms be ?

Our Griff has two... my old Chimaera had one.

If one goes expect all sorts of fun... usual total loss of electrics in our case. Bit of a pain when your spare fuse is in the boot...

Steve Heath does an alternative design one rather than the strip. I've got them as spares now as the strip type do take a battering if you use your car all year round and the alternative from Steve seems a more weather resistant design. Not so much for the passenegr footwell one but for the chassis mounted one.

I've a whole bunch of the old type new as well, but wanted to check what these were like and will certainly use in the future, yes they're slightly more expensive, but this is less than a pint these days . ..
