Hey everyone!

Not really posted to much but thought might was well drop a quick post about my new car, and no even though i have long straightened hair, im not gay!

The tangerine mobile is being traded in this week for an mx5, not helping the situation I know.

1.8 Euphonic with a whole 140bhp (mind bendingly fast) :P

Its quite the change from my GT cruiser, The focus has been amazing and struggled through with my clutch burning, mis shifting and heavy braking! surviving quite a few runs

Got some great memories and a brilliant video from Robbie and Nathan as well.

Mx5 is sort of an inbetweener really trying to get something economical and fun as well, oh and it had to be RWD with an LSD.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at another run, although i will just take it easy at the back of the pack.

Also hoping the gf wont get to car sick in the new one and attend a whole run with me!

Which generation MX-5 is it?

I was looking at one before I got the Swift actually, and I still think it would have been a hoot. I reckon I would have been quite irresponsible with a RWD car though!

I also have your car on film from a run over a year ago, if you want a copy let me know. The Moose has promised to organise a run and he has an Mx-5 btw.

Nice one. I'm not a fan of the Mk3, but I was also looking at a Mk2 or 2.5. Looking forward to the pics.

well glad to see everyone is coming out!!

Will get the pics up this week i hope, managed to get 300+ miles on it over the weekend.

Its really quite weird though, every other car on the road seems huge!!

Its definitely one of the most fun cars i have driven, ever. I can't really explain it but you have so much control and feel, rear breaks away in a really civilised sort of manner, its quite a nice change from the GT cruiser.

Only problem i found was the stereo sounds really naff, when its quiet (loads of treble and almost static like). When its really loud everything seems so clear no distortion or anything.

That or i am going deaf hehe

I got it in silver, quite plain really! the wheels are ace but do need a refurb! next port of call for me.

Which mk of the 5 are you looking at JJCW??

Really wishing it had a hard top all the time that was convertiable rather than me taking it off and popping it in the garage.

Haven't done all my researching yet, i want a 1.8 and an LSD be nice.
Air con etc are all bonus', which may or may not get stripped out at some point!

More research is most definately needed though, is lots of them, and i don't know enough :P

If you're looking at UK cars then this site http://mx5-3rdgenerationlimited.com/ is pretty good at the limited editions and their specs - go to the Past UK Limiteds section.

Do people recommend uk car or import?
I think i read somewhere that the imports are normally less rusty and had a better lsd/spec? smile

Normally they are better spec'd and less rusty, but I guess it depends on your circumstances - insurance plays a big part if you are a youngster, then it might be cheaper to get a UK car. It wouldn't bother me either way really.

This is a cheap and cheerful guide of the Eunos range http://ox.mx5oc.co.uk/guide_eunos.htm

I went for a UK spec in the end, i would deffintealy go for one with an LSD and aim for the 1.8i

I think most of the sports came with 6 gears and an LSD, but i found having 5 gears was ample.

Only problem is other than special editions the LSD is not that common on UK spec cars.

it was quite a backwards step from a 260 odd bhp focus into a 140bhp mx5!
an extra 50 bhp and it would be about perfect for me. Only one thing id want to have done to the car is get some forced induction, will have to raid the piggy bank for a supercharger soon!
