I should really throw this one into the mix for a first time flyer.

The contra ones are a lttle more stable (but not good for aerobatics) if i understand it correctly. I have one of these little ones, great fun for indoors and sheltered area's smile

To be honest, I would probably go for something a bit chunkier than mine, these sub micro's are fiddly!

As you say there are lits to choose from! I saw one recently somehwere online that was much bigger than these and it had an onboard camera that sent live video back to the ground so you could theoretically sit in your living room and fly this thing round your neighborhood!

I would say, yes they are good bits of kit. But does that mean they are a good first heli??

I am sure someone will be along that can give you some proper advice, I am just a noob myself and keep crashing it.

My blade cp pro and esky honey bee cp2 with loads of spares go on fleabay tomorrow (and are in PH classifieds)

Could be considered a bit too tricky for a first heli but they did me ok - you just need a really still day and the heading lock gyro really helped too!

Budget in for spares - blades especially and training skids (ping pongs)

Not sure if that's any help or not!

Dave

p.s. as above not sure mine would be best for you unless you like to spend some time getting them set up which is by far the fiddliest bit

I fly lots of different planes and fancied a go on a heli.
Bought one from mmaplins for £40 with all the gear.
Dead easy to fly, not a full 4 channel job but gave me enough enjoyment to think about the next step up.
Well worth a look for a starter heli- loads of fun whilst teaching the basics

I've got the Buzzfly CX (coax one) and to be honest, as fun as it was, see trying to fix the thing its a bloody nightmare, it's just way too small and fiddly. That's the reason I stopped bothering and spent all my time on a sim practicing before I bought a Blade 400 the other week. I think if I had a chance again I'd go for a larger one to start with, the Blade CX2 seems to be one of the more popular ones!

Agreed, If I could do it again i would have started with a bigger one as they cost a similar amount to purchase and repair anyway!
