These are my 2 options: a 50k-ish 360 Spider 2002/03 or a 2004 Lambo Gallardo hardtop.

Has anyone owned both and can comment on the relative values of each?

I love my 355 Spider, and enjoy it's Ferrariness greatly, but I've had a few reliability problems that have put me off slightly...I'm led to believe the reliability on the G is better than the 360, and that it's build quality is superior.

Performance wise I know they are both stellar, I don't think there is much to go on here, it's the general owning experience I'm more interested in.

I have driven early Gallardos and if your budget is £50ish then i personally wouldnt bother unless you have some cash put aside. £50ish will get you a later F360 that has had all early problems ironed out.

And are you pleased with that decision? (fully appreciating that's likely to be a very silly question)

Haven't driven a 360, but i have a Gallardo and a 355, so hopefully i can help. First off the Gallardo is very easy to drive, clutch/gear change is light, steering is light but full of feel and it's fairly comfortable. The 355 is, in my opinion, more comfortable and the clutch is slightly heavier, personally I prefer that but that's just me. The boot in the Gallardo is a joke, you can fit a small bag or maybe two (at an absolute push) but that's all, where as I've had 3 bags and a suit carrier in the Ferrari.

Performance wise the Gallardo is a lot faster than the Ferrari and handles better in my opinion. It's just easier to use, in the Ferrari I've had a moment or two when the back came out that wasn't quite as fun as you would imagine, where as in the Gallardo it just feels so easy to manage.

As I said earlier I've never driven a 360, but I would imagine it's controls etc are fairly similar to the 355. If I were you I would go for the Gallardo, but if your in any doubt just test drive both.

Are we missing the point on the chaps budget? Of course the Gallardo is superior to the 360 from every aspect in my opinion but a budget of £50k'ish puts him in a 53 plate high mileage private or Independant example.

No doubt there is the odd great car at £50k'ish but there are some that really need a good few £k's spent in the garage to get them into shape.

The budget would be £60k for a Gallardo and £50k for a 360 Spider.

Absolutely. Not once have I wished I had got a 360, I wouldn't say no to a F430 though! wink

Decided to take the advert down, got far too many timewasters. Stompboxx if your interested, drop me and email if you fancy an Orange one!
