In need of simple photoshop skills

I have tried and tried, but cannot do it, so can someone please turn the wheels on my car gloss black to see if they suit i feel a failure

Learn my son, learn.

Open photo in photoshop
Select the elliptical marquee tool (press M)
Left click mouse to the top left of front wheel and drag mouse to select wheel.
Hold shift and left click again to the top left of the rear wheel and drag to select wheel
Once you see two dotted circles, copy and paste (ctrl+c, ctrl+v)

Now, go to Image, Hue/Saturation and adjust the Lightness to around -70

You omitted to include what occupation he is currently apprenticing in. "Pharmaceutical engineer" would explain it!

I sorted it! The difference is though that i am using GIMP and i am lowering the light to its lowest setting but they just look anthracite? How can i make it darker? I would show you but it keeps crashing now
