Hi all
I know this is a broad question but is it possible and a relatively easy task, to get a very good condition, reliable 147 or 156 on a budget of around £2k and if so what engine/gearbox should I go for?
I see them offered at that money or cheaper but have no experiance of Alfas and I feel I need one!
Thanks in advance

You'll get a better 156 than a 147 for the money I'd say.

If it means anything, I bought a 1.9 JTD 147 2003 for £2600, 6 months ago and it's been great, you just have to look hard!

Having owned both I'd say you get a better built 147 than a 156!

I bought a 147 for under 2K and it was great! Although I love the 156!

Just make sure you get either with a full service history that confirms the belts have been done.

You can get a tidy 2000/2001 156 2.5V6 for around that, as long as it has been cared for it will be more reliable than the 2.0 models, and....the noise!!!!!!

+1

As long as its had the timing belt done, and has been regularly serviced. Needs to be a Veloce though.

Try and find a car with the 2002-on facelift interior.

That's the one with a trip computer display in the middle, on the top of the dash.

They're much better built with better quality plastics.

Such a model will be much better built than the 147!

A faceliftt 156 is godly! I miss it so! I fell for the whole 147 is better built rubbish and regret it now.

The 147 looks great though!

A JTS isn't a bad buy, although I have a 1.9 m-jet which is great biggrin
