Z3 Airbag Light

The airbag light in the z3 has come on taken into the dealers and they have said it need a modified seat belt pre tensioner wiring harness, does this sound right to every one?? is this something i can do myself or only a specialist dealer can sort?? any help would be great dammm light is bugging me.
