Hi People,

I need to change the speakers in my 355 Spider as the drivers side unit is not working and the current speakers don't sound to hot anyway.

Does anyone know how to access them and also what size speakers they are. I'd like to buy the replacements before I start taking things apart so I can get the job done in one go.

Whatever you do its never going to sound much good.

I think they are 6.5 if memory serves me correctly!

Better to amp it up and use a high quality speaker, boston, polk ect!

You have to remove the complete front door panel, for easy access you can also remove the front of the lower door (3 allen keys) and dynomatt all that area to improve things!

Yea,totally agree with the above.Have had the same problem in my spider, and eventually went for 6 inch speakers in the doors(infinity's I think)with an infinity amp under the bonnet and a Nakamichi single play cd.Sounds ok I suppose, but the guys who fitted it had a lot of experience with 355's and told me unless you custom make speaker mounting etc then thats about the biggest speaker you're gonna get!Even then the speakers are partly covered by the upper part of the door panel.

I thonk the point is that you need lots of power from an additional amp to try to get some quality and bass from what is a very poor acoustic environment.

The speakers are in an 'open' environment and that does not help.

I think what Im saying is that without additional amplificication whatever speakers you use will make NO difference, so save the money! unless you want to buy an amp as well, I have aline head unit, genesis amp and boston speakers. Its much better but actually the sound in my standard toyota is better!!

Cheers Guys,

I must have forgot to mention I was planing on using an amp.

I'm planning on using a set Dynaudio Components (hence the size question as they produce both 6 1/2" and 7" comps, a small genesis profile amp and Pioneer HU. Need to do something as the drivers side speaker is not working.

excellent choice, 6/12 is all you can fit but be VERY careful with mounting depth I tried several and many would not fit.
Genesis amps very good I mounted mine under the front hood in the nose, be aware these amps run VERY hot as they are not fan cooled.
