I took the Griff to an autotest over the weekend. Both Nic and myself drove it, so it did a lot of work. The autotest was not the usual "reverse into boxes" low speed thing. Some of the gates were wide and there were some high speed sections - for a closed carpark - involving getting close to the limiter in 1st and 2nd.

With all the tight corners and sideways action, I wondered if the baffle in the sump is up to the job. Should I consider some improvements before torturing the Griff again?

And are oil coolers worthwhile for extended track hooning? (I suspect not, but am prepared to be proven wrong) Remember the car will effectively see double use on such days because there are two drivers wanting to use it.

My advise would be to buy a mini.. hehe for the autotests..

Failing that - a John Eales baffled sump and or an Accusump.

SPEND has talked in some depth about the accusump whatnot
Why have you got it spendy - was it for this or something else?

You might want to talk to AdrianV8S on here about oil surge problems with RV8s. I'd be sympathetic, if I were you ...

Yes I have one wink but its an accumulator with integral valve made by First Over All (F-O-A).

I've only bored folks recently hinting that the purge valve power is powered on/off at the right times to operate the electronic valve for an accumulator wink All the other features have been discussed at length many times over...

Or even Adriand (chosen so long ago, that witty handles hadn't been invented) ...

Yes, my current visit to V8D was inspired by a flickering amber light through Club corner on the Silverstone GP. The subsequent rebuild has addressed some underlying pressure issues, but has been topped off with one of the mythical John Eales sumps, complete with windage tray (to "scrape" oil off the crank, so I understand).

I should be collecting in tomorrow, so hopefully there'll be no more mid corner twinkling!

Having said all that - my problems probably only started when I fitted sticky rubber and hacked around "flowing" race tracks.
