Insuring an early 90's Car as a Classic
Discussion
Sp I am looking at getting something a bit naughty to replace the Teg for weekends and track days. Of course this means fun and games with the insurance since I just want a limited mileage, second car, social only policy and most places turf me out the door like some urchin because:
I am 25
The car is an R32 GTR
Quotes I have gotten are for full ordinary policies where I have said my mileage will be around 5000 but it is not a limited one for a second car etc... etc... etc...
So has anyone here got such a policy on their P&J?

I`ve got a classic policy on my 95 Jap Import 300ZX with these chaps http://www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk Very reasonable premium IIRC circa £250 including breakdown cover on a limited 3000 miles with agreed value.
No other quote came close and most of the mainstream classic insurers didn`t want to know.

Bear in mind you wont build up NCB on a classic policy, and unless you have your NCB applied to another car on a non classic policy it will lapse after 2 years
You don't build up no claims on a classic policy, although they did offer to "store" any existing no claims bonus so that I wouldn't lose it after 2 years, i.e. they get proof of your NCB when you sign up and then they pass it on to another insurer as and when you need them to. As it happened I didn't have any NCB to use as I had bought a daily driver to go with the '5 so switched the NCB to that, which meant a classic policy was *very* cost effective for me (it cost significantly less to insure it on a classic policy with 0 NCB than it did on a normal policy with full NCB).
