Hey guys,

We're looking to get hold of a new Maloo after seeing it on Top Gear the other week.

Already own a Walkinshaw L200, so seems like it's just the next step forward!

I've been in touch with Walkinshaw, but they've quoted an 8 month wait. Does anyone know of any other suppliers within the UK - perhaps anywhere I could get a test drive?

Any help would be appreciated - there doesn't seem to be a great deal of info around within the UK.

I think you'd have to look at importing one yourself. There are only 5 R8 Maloos in the country and Walkinshaw brought those in.

Buying a Maloo is like making love to a beautiful woman . First you catch a glimpse of her, she's a creature to behold , then you have to have a test RIDE !!! If that goes well you ply her with alcohol as you can and see just how far and fast she will go . If she goes all the way you consider a long term relationship .
PS My father is Swiss and his name is Toni spelt the same way .

Thanks for the info guys.

Not so bothered about buying second hand - especially if there's only five around in the UK.

Might see about heading up to monkfish for a drive.

What's the auto box like - I've driven an Audi DSG and loved that, but is the HSV gearbox as smooth?

I think Roger's is a manual. R8 auto box is not bad after a remap, seems to be the consensus. Most of us have manuals.

The A6 is a great box, has a tiptronic mode, so you get the best of both worlds. I wouldn't say that the american made stuff would have the finesse of what the Germans produce. Best thing is to find a willing owner who'll give you a demo. There might still be some LS3 autos around at the dealers for a demo?

I've got to say that you won't get the best from those boxes until you have them re-mapped.

well said, here, here! IMHO the older shape looks more sleek than the new one so if you can't get a new shape one then there are many more older shape ones that have been imported. Good luck!
