Just a quick question: is £6500 a fair price for a 51-plate 330Ci M Sport with pretty much all the toys (e.g. satnav, sunroof, usual stuff too), FSH, recently serviced, 105k on the clock but driving like 50k and in superb mechanical and near perfect bodywork condition?

I'm planning to list mine on Autotrader and I think that's a fair price but don't want to take the piss on the price whilst not under-valuing it. It's certainly a stunning motor, but I'm keen to sell it reasonably quickly as I'm not using it and can't justify keeping it. As I've no plans to replace it with anything in the short term, I've not considered trading it, so a private sale is pretty much my only option (other than getting fleeced by 'webuyanycar.com' style outfits).

I listed it on PH but the response has been a bit lukewarm - a couple of calls but nobody has come to see it and I'm wondering whether that's down to its price or perhaps the fact I'm not where most PH folks are so my 'customer base' is much smaller...

Thanks,

john

No - too expensive imo.
How many owners ? BMW history ?

In June I sold both my 330ci sport and the wifes saloon.
Both 52 reg, 75k, black, black leather & very good spec bar satnav (which people don't seem to be bothered about as a £150 Tomtom does a much better job).

The coupe went for just over £7k . . Pics here - as you can see it wasn't a neglected one but did need the wheels refurbed.

I'd originally priced at £8,200 but compared to others it appeared to be overpriced.
Dropped it to £7,750 and the phone didn't stop ringing.

I was the 2nd owner having had it since Oct 2004.
Servicing from 46k onwards was done myself - I had all the bills for OEM parts bought.

I'd drop the price to sub £6k and see what interest it generates.
It's an 8 year old car with over 100k on which will turn a lot of people off.

My personaly experience is that 330s start to cost money from around 60-100k - cam sensors, bushes, ball joints, waterpumps. My view on yours would be that most of these have been sorted so if I was buying I'd go for one.

Hmmmmm... it's far too nice to want to let it go sub £6k, though, and they're a bit rarer up here than down south, so I'd hope £6k at worst, but maybe you're right. It's truly in excellent shape, though, so I'm hoping that will add a bit of a premium or at least desirability to it...

Looks like a nice car. Where did you advertise it?

Here's mine:

...I've taken time to take good pictures and assess it honestly, but despite that the PH advert has been a bit of a disappointment, despite being a premium one. I'm thinking Autotrader next as though it's a bit more expensive, it's readership is probably 10x or more of the PH ads...

I only got a bunch of dreamers via the PH ad.
All offering offensive amounts without seeing the car, including dheads offering less than the p/ex offer I already had because it was 'cash'.
Another girl who thought I should sell her the car because she had to 'lend the money off a mate' and that was all she could borrow therefore that's what I should have accepted for it !

I put the same ads on AT for 2 weeks and they were sold within the first week.
I was realistic about their worth though.

If you'd read the original post you'd have seen.....

Anyway, sorry, I didn't mean to be quite so abrupt there, so I apologise.

If you don't need a car then take the cash while you can.
If you're just going to replace it with something else it could be worth keeping as 330s are a lot of car for the money.

To be honest, a lot of it is down to my wife as she has never taken to the car, despite it being better in every way to our other car. That said, I'm working in Edinburgh and taking the train each day - the car will now be weekends only and with a young baby we don't really make many weekend trips - so I'm worried that it's going to get next to no use over the next three or six months, and may suffer for it.

Yes, two cars is very useful, but with my wife on mat leave until the new year and my commute, we're struggling to use our main car enough far less the 330...

Anyway, it's all academic as the DVLA have mucked up the cherished transfer and rejected my application due to a mistake on their own part (which they admit) but it'll delay any sale for a couple of weeks as the paperwork has to be resubmitted once they've sorted their mistake. Annoying! So, Autotrader, etc., will have to wait....

Parker's/Glass's Guide seem to put it at about £5k trade, so maybe £6k private?

When I did it a month or two back it was £4700 or so. So not a ridiculous offer, just a tad too low.
