Anyone have any comments on this boat as a first time out/ beginner style cabin cruiser?

I don't want to break records, I want a safe, useable fishing/leisure craft and these seem to fit the bill, however, the combined thoughts of you lot may burst my aquatic bubble or splice my mainbrace as it were..

Thanks in advance and have a great weekend smile

Shetlands are an ideal family cabin cruiser , we had a similar Microplus when I was a kid , Great fun for cruising with a small galley , 2 berths , they are stable
certainly for using on local rivers , lakes

we used a 20 HP Yamaya with a spare 5HP it was about the minimum to get the boat to plane , I remember it wasn't very fuel efficient ,

I would advise checking the boat has good door seals , a canopy , has it been anti fouled , does it come with a road trailer , life vests , anchors etc.

There are some great deals especialy at auctions.

There are several; apart from ebay lots of boatyrads are selling day cruisers , cabin cruisers , it really is a buyers market at the moment and you can haggle some very good deals ,

not a 535 slightly bigger the Shetland family 4 this one is very reasonably priced . However it has no engine but the seller will haggle over the price of a seporate engine.

Thanks, I will look into those although they look a tad larger than a Shetland and we have to watch that it will fit in the place arranged.

You have been a great help, thank you very much smile

Bookmarking this one, the O/H and I have been thinking about a 1st dabble boat, can't decide on what to get, Shetlands lack the outside 'seating', but she wants a cuddy so bowrider is out.

Needs to be towable by large car (not 4x4), mainly for rivers but occasionally down to Poole or Plymouth, have seen some ads for Fletcher or Maxum 19ft cuddys, any veiws on them?

You can buy a seat thing that goes accross the back of the boat to make more seating, that and two seats for the 'driver' and co pilot make an easy 5 seats plus inside biggrin
