Hi
A few months ago I purchased a second hand freshly re-built cvh engine as the bottom end had gone on mine.
I have just got round to changing engines over and have put the new engine onto my engine stand. I removed the plugs and tried turning the engine over by hand with a wrench on the alternator pulley but it wont turn over. All that happened was I un did the pulley bolt (i tried both ways). I have all the reciepts for the engine parts showing that all parts have been renewed.

Could it have seized as it has been stood in a dry garage for a good few months? How can I get it to turn or am I doing something wrong?

Any help is much appreciated

Many thanks

Has it ever run? If it's been assembled dry, or run long enough to wash the oil off the bores before being left, it could be a small amount of corrosion in the bores causing the rings to rust themselves to the bore. If it's literally just been assembled and left there must be something badly wrong for it to be so stiff in both directions.

I was told it had done a 1000 miles or so before being removed due to the guy doing a zetec conversion.
I have e-mailed the guy I had it of so will wait and see.
It should turn freely though instead of the nut undoing though I assume?

Try squirting a small amount of plus gas through the plug holes and leaving it overnight, the rings may have rusted to the bores if no oil was put in the bores before it was stored. Once it has sat overnight, try turning it both ways, maybe rock the flywheel instead of using the crank pulley bolt.

Once it comes free, shoot some oil into the bores and give it a good few turns on the pulley. That way you will clean the crud off the bore walls and lube all the required parts. Just dont go mad with the force to break the initial hold, worse case, you would break a ring.

Totally my fault. Im new to all this and its a restoration of a fiesta rs turbo.
I put the engine on the stand and one of the nuts was pressing against the flywheel!

Sounds obvious but Im learning as I go!

Took it of stand and turned over lovely! Thanks again for your help
