Crapping in a Cafe
Discussion
Well I`m not a regular in slightly upmarket deli/cafe society, so need some advice as to current social mores.
While tucking into my sandwich, I was aware of the table at my back being occupied by a young couple & sprog of about 2.
I did hear dad say `well done` a few times to his offspring & assumed he was eating up like a good little boy.
On leaving I turned & became aware that the deed which prompted such fatherly pride was not appetite but filling his potty which they had kindly set down for him during the course of their meal.
Please tell me - is this now considered acceptable?

The slightly upmarket part of cafe society tends to price out the peasants. That said, behaviour like that wouldn't be acceptable at a lay-by burger van. Where were you (so I can avoid it)?Edited by grumbledoak on Saturday 15th August 19:56
I'm surprised so many seem to think the parents are scumbag chav pikeys.
In my experience people like this are usually reasonably wealthy modern parent types, who are so blinkered in trying to bring up their little darlings the right way, forget that the world continues to revolve around things other than what comes out of Toby's backside.

Thanks to all for the support & yes Bishbash, you`re correct, it was much more `young professional couple` than chavvy scum.
I think I`ll give the public health a ring to see what they think, as it is now obvious to me that the manager was completely aware of what was going on.
Time to find another sandwich shop in Harrogate.
(No - of course it wasn`t Betty`s!)

Absolutely not acceptable. My boy is potty training now but FFS, take the kid and potty to the bathroom. Manky

Having just finished this process, I absolutely agree - totally unacceptable. If the cafe does not have a loo, it makes the behaviour far more understandable, although still disgusting.
s.I do remember the first time my son needed the toilet in a restaurant, he announced to everyone in the establishment he'd done a 'wee-wee' on exiting the toilet.
We've progressed so far that yesterday he did a poo on the 4.45 train as it started rolling out of Paddington

Unbelievable! Dutring the potty training stage, any need for a crap in a public place is dealt with by a parent holding the child over the loo.
Indeed.I wouldn't dream of letting my kids lay pipeline in any place food or drink is served. And whilst I admire their excitement at getting their child to 'do one' on a potty, their timing and location was more than wrong.
As soon as you see a kid 'concentrating' you whip them up and leg it to the loo, if you whip them up sufficiently fast enough, it usually retracts the s
t and buys you time to make the run and remove necessary clothing.dirty boy said:
