Have a 92 Pre Cat 4441 BV Griff. Same motor as the 4.5 wedges so hoping you guys can help.

Noticed the engine wasn't as keen to rev as normal and also as strong a shove higher up the rev range

Was checking things out on the engine and noticed that one of the screws on the vacuum advance had fallen out and the other screw had come adrift together with a piece of the ditributor (I assume its a threaded swaging although it could be part of the dissy body).

On wiggling the unit the vacuum came adrift from the distributor.

Is this a straight forward fix or am I looking at a replacement dizzy ?

I am guessing this is the cause of lack of high rpm urge too................

Looks like it's pulled the thread inserts out of the casting. Possible bodge with nuts and washers, Araldite probably a non-starter... I'll give you a tenner for the scrap dissy though, if you end up buying a spare... smile

When I had my 400 rolling roaded in April, the operator discovered that one of my (car's that is smile) screws was missing too.....vac advance loose. He just found a replacement screw, and on with the show.

JB Weld it back in if it'll unthread from the screw. If not, JB Weld, drill hole and thread it for a new screw. If not, nut on rear and threadlock it. If not, scrap the dizzy and go distributorless courtesy of Megasquirt2 V3. Bin the 4cu/14cu p.o.s. under the dash too!

ecu mapping for free? yes
