As in GG thread.

Not sure about it myself, but we'll see how it looks in a few days.

Gets the thumbs up from me and I think it's superb. The rear overhang looks a bit long in some photos I've seen but in real life it's probably fine. The only other problem is of course that I cannot afford one but I guess I'm not alone with that particular problem :-/

Well now. I had expected it to be called the Bentley Barnato - having been referred to as Project Kimberley. It's big and no doubt it's going to be impressive on the road. I think it will appeal to the American market, becasue it's big brash and impressive.

For my taste it is a bit too much like the Rolls Phantom, for which it is a clear competitor, and the Bentley Brooklands which preceded it. It doesn't look like the car I hoped it would be. Size is essential - but it looks too bulky - it should be much more shapely, and that big bar across the front should have been dropped to become a splitter at the bottom. The headlight plane should have been a little more recessed, and the radiator narrower but much deeper, and pointed in the manner suggested by the early teaser photos. I think it could have been a fastback, which not only picks up on Bentley heritage but hasn't been done on that scale of car, and would have offered the possibility of panoramic roofs and even more rear space.

Just my view of course. I hope it is a great success, but I feel that the approach is just too safe and a little Germanic. 'Grand Bentley' - 'Grosser Mercedes'.

I actually quite like that. Apart from the monstrous wheels.

Me too smile

I hope it looks better in the metal.

And anyway, it's a proper RR underneath, and that's what matters.

Growing on me, too. Would look much better in black or dark blue. Jewish Racing Gold was an unfortunate choice for the launch IMO.

One thing puzzles me about the new Mulsanne. Why does it cost nearly twice as much as the old Arnage? Why does it cost £100K more than a Phantom? Obviously it's not going to be cheap but £350K is difficult to stomach.

Where on earth was this price of £350k sourced???

I heard that it was to be a Phantom competitor so priced around the £300k mark. That does seem to leave a big gap in the market above the Flying Spur Speed model, which would then compete with the RR Ghost. Now I like the Conti GT Range, but I know a few more traditional Bentley owners who think they are too fast (yes) too noisy and a bit hard. So I am not sure where the Arnage customer goes if he is not in a position to fork out £300k. To a Ghost I suspect, as I believe they are at the £160k mark.

The 350K price was quoted in an article I read this week. It was only a guess by the reporter as I don't belive that official pricing has been anounced.
The first Mulsanne went for 304K but I hope the actual price is far less than this figure.

Autocar expect it to be around £200k (so probably upto £220k) which I think makes sense it isn't as big as a phantom and it will also represent good value at that sort of price.
I think it would be a mistake to take on rolls directly and so do bentley perhaps, they will also sell lots more cars which they seem to like doing at the moment.
