Hi

Since I purchased the Turbo from Douglas Valley last year, I have not really done a lot to the car as I was busy finishing of the restoration of my 350i (The first production car) That has now been finished since May!
The work I had done on the Taimar up today was just to get it running and tidy it up a bit.
So today I decided to give the car a survey to see what was totaly needed.
I knew that it was a unusal Turbo as it had been convert to a Janspeed system some time in its life. I will go into what I have found on that at a later date!
The interior is in good condition and apart from the seats needing some leather feeding the interiour will do!
It's the chassis and running gear which need most of the work (See attached pics)

The chassis has a couple of holes in the off side front outrigger and has a lot of scabby other places as well. The suspension and running gear need a full overhaul, so a decision has been made. Starting in late autumn I will begin to do a body off full restoration, whilst still trying to use original materials and parts! Like I did with my 350i!

I will try and keep you informed of progres, but I also intend to do an article for "Sprint" when its complete.

Well some pics have posted Ok.

The car has always (since I have owned it) run poorly, some of this is due to the poor engine compression fiquers, this is proberly due to the fact the car has sat for so long! But that's not all the reason why! The fuel in the tank was stale. Even though its got a new fuel tank and sender, the gauge is not reg. So we weren't certain how much fuel was in the tank. I had added a couple of galls to help freshen up what was in the tank. So the first job was to drain the tank!

So after some 11 galls the tank is now empty. No woulder the engine ran poorly as it was never getting any good petrol!

In one of the pics you can see a rather dented sump!
May be that would explain why the car now has a sump/exhaust guard

Is this a common fit on the turbo or is it another Janspeed upgrage?

Hi Colin

The jack/car lift was sold by Clarke power tools. They don't sell it any more! I got this one of e-bay for £600 to help restore my 350i. It works well, it has wheels so you can move it about, or you can raise it inside a normal garage!
The only problem with it is, the restricted room under the center of the car when it's on the lift.
See attached pic of it when I was restoring my 350i.
