Thanks for your reply (been on holiday).
I have replaced all teh ball joints etc and yes I had to drive the outer races in as they were very tough.

I had the same problem and on very very close inspection, there were grooves worn in the CV shafts. A squillionth of an inch will allow you to clunk the wheel. It is irritating.
Hmm- one of the CV joints is new so I can't see that being it. I may try a new hub on this side and see where that takes me. ThanksTVRich said:

I had some movement in my front wheels so I replaced the wheel bearings however I still have this movement.
When jacked up if I hold the wheel top & bottom I can move the wheel on the hub and can see teh outer CV joint move.
