'Promotional' F60 run for Badoer????

Luca Badoer will have two days to familiarise himself with Ferrari's F60 as he puts the car through its paces as part of a promotional video.

Badoer will make his Ferrari debut at Valencia this weekend, replacing the injured Felipe Massa. The Italian, though, has little experience in the Scuderia's 2009 challenger due to the ban on in-season testing.

As such Ferrari have organised a promotional outing for the 38-year-old that will allow him to adjust to the car.

Badoer, though, may not exceed the 100km per day limit imposed on the teams.

The team released a statement saying that on Monday 'the Scuderia will take up its work after a two-week break, which had been agreed with the other teams.

'Over the next three days the team will concentrate on the preparations for the races in Spain and Belgium, which will be held on the last two weekends in August.

'Next to Kimi Raikkonen, Luca Badoer will start into the races, debuting as an official Scuderia driver.

'Tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday, Luca will be part of a video shooting for promotional purposes behind the F60's wheel at the Fiorano race track.

There's a 100km limit and the tyres are 'super hard'.

I don't think there's much Ferrari can do to circumnavigate the agreed rules on this occasion.

He has a point! Funny how Red Bull and Williams object to MS driving the car, but Badoer is acceptable as they don't think he will be competitive.

This isn't them allowing Luca to test, it's a promotional video thing and is within the rules.

22) TRACK AND WIND TUNNEL TESTING

22.1 a) Track testing shall be considered any track running time undertaken by a competitor entered in the Championship with the exception of:
i) promotional or demonstration events carried out using tyres provided specifically for this purpose by the appointed supplier

It's all within the regulations set out by the FiA...........

If they're allowed to do this, why didn't they just get Schumacher to do a promotional video? There is a theory that Schumacher actually cancelled his comeback because they wouldn't let him have a play with the new car...

I reckon if they got Schumacher in a promotional video, he would still be coming back.

There was nothing to stop Schumacher doing a promotional run. The promotional runs have limitations on speed, distance and tyres, so the only useful info that either Schumacher or Badoer (or any other driver, for that matter) would be the basic operation of the car - e.g. steering wheel controls etc.

The truth is none of us will ever find out, but I wonder when they booked to make the video, what exactly are they promoting? Ferrari (yep no ones ever heard of them) Badoer (been around for years) the car (been around all year)

As far as I'm concerned if they're inside the rules then it's fine. It's just a clever use of the rules, like the double diffuser.

This is all stuff and nonsense, it matters not and if it's within the agreed rules there is no problem. Indeed I didn't even realise there was an allowance for promo' stuff (why should I?) so what puzzles me is why Ross Brawn didn't ask Jenson Button to do some promotional runs up the Goodwood hill at the prescribed speed and with the necessary hard tyres, I would have been good for the mainly British crowd to have watched.

Given the speed limit for promo's of IIRC 100KMH and the wooden tyres they would be allowed to use, would you think a run up the hill at Goodwood in those circumstances may have been almost counter productive?

I've honestly no idea? A few doughnuts and a bit of a blat couldn't do any harm could it? That's all the crowd want to see from the F1 cars.

I am not aware of the official line on Brawn Gp and Goodwood, they were there but not running up the hill, but given Article 22 they could have if they had wanted/wished to.

I did notice the Brawn car that was at Goodwood was carefully positioned so the rear was not visible.
