Been on PH / AT for about 3 weeks and a few sniffs, one visitor and not a huge amount of interest.

Any comments? Is it too expensive? WeBuyAnyCar quoted £19400 and a BMW Main Dealer offered £19500 so I don't think I'm asking a ridiculous amount...

Well it certainly looks like a well-looked after car, and the price looks good compared to the AUC cars on the BMW system. Two thoughts:

1. It's August - people are either on holiday or paying for the holidays they've just had. Maybe Sept will bring more joy?

2. Although yours is approx £2.5k (10%) cheaper than the equivalent AUC cars, I suspect a lot of potential buyers would probably rather pay the extra for the peace of mind of SOGA protection / warranty etc etc, and to get main dealer finance.

Good luck!

The only other thing I can think of is tax which is due soon, I might extend this .. Normally I would have given up and part ex'd by now, but at least I can afford to wait. Annoying though.

Also summers coming to an end so people might be holding off buying roadsters hoping for a winter bargain like last year.

I'm wondering if the issue is warranty - it isn't clear how long the warranty has remaining on the car, although you do mention it is covered. If it runs out in the near future, that may put potential buyers off, making it more cost effective to buy AUC. If on the other hand it has a long time to run, it may be worth mentioning as a selling point. Given what you've been offered by a main dealer, I'd be inclined to let them find a buyer.

Car and advert all look good to me. There are lot's of these to choose from though.

When I was looking for a Z4M 5/6 months ago I couldn't get one and now there's a few nice ones on PH.
Been watching two Imola red ones (coupe) in particular (like mine) that are not shifting :-(

If anyone is seriously looking, they aint going to worry about road tax. That's something that can be negotiated on price. I guess hang in there.

Surely buyer have the following on their mind:

Price
Miles
Condition
Warranty

For whats it worth, my view:-

1) For this type of car I wouldnt venture outside of the main dealer network irrespective of the discount of buying privately

2) If the offer from the main dealer stands I would take it as it is so close to the for sale price

I would expect warranty is high on the list of any buyer and around the 20k mark, the old psychology of <20k rather than >20k may mean you miss the odd buyer.. Again as said before, if a stealer has offered anywhere close to it and time is of the essence then take the dealer offer.

I tried to sell my car about 6 months ago and I must say it was a nightmare. I got quite a few calls to be fair but most of them just seemed to be time wasters or offer stupidly low money. In the end I saw sense and decided to keep the car and I'm glad I did.

Anyway, I would post some pictures of the interior if I were you. If you have spare time you could put up the service history, i.e. serviced by BMW at 20,678 miles on September 2nd 2008 etc. Other than that I can't think of anything else to do other than wait.

Good luck with your sale though.

I noticed your Z4M and wondered why it hadnt gone. I sold my coupe which was on at 27k for 26.5k about 2 weeks ago. Mine was a 56 plate with about 20k on the clock and needed inspection 1 in about 1200 miles. Therefore this makes yours a cracking deal. Mine was up at 27k and had the CSL's.

Did you have many calls?

Just waved it goodbye. End of the M era for me frown

Had about 5-6 calls in the end. What surprised me was the lack of interest, but I guess hard car to place.

I had similar problems with mine. 20k is a lot of cash for someone to have sat around I guess. A BMW dealer offered me 17 for my mint roadster on an 06 plate. I literally laughed and walked out. Took a PX on mine in the end so it worked out quite well. I think in future I'm sticking to stuff under 15k if I'm selling private!
