There are 7 of us heading over to Florida this week, aged 23/24. We are looking for that blend of interesting things to do during the day and interesting things to do at night.

Day will be taken up by lounging around the pool, beach, golf course etc and I have that part pretty much sewn up but I have never been to Florida as a 'lad' before. I've only ever been on a family holiday.

We plan to do Islands of Adventure and Blizzard Beach in terms of 'theme parks'.

What about nightlife?

We will be spending a few days at Longboat Key at my parents place and then spending some time in Kissimmee also. It will be Kissimmee that we are most interested in for nightlife. Pleasure Island?

What sort of clubs are there? Decent places to drink some beer etc?

We are 5 mins from Hooters so eating out is sorted!

Any advice welcome!

Kissimee? Lads holiday?

I stayed in Kissimee once and I'm sorry but I can't see that being much good personally.

I don't think I saw a nightclub whilst I was there. Anywhere....

You can have a laugh during the day doing the things you mentioned but it's all bars and restaurants over there as far as I could see.

As I remember, lads holidays also require groups of women to flirt with/try and score.
Nope - didn't see any of those anywhere either....

Although I imagine the fact that he is planning to stay at his parents Florida home had something to do with it! Fair enough though, it keeps the holiday costs down! smile

ETA: California would've been a better choice, but then again, so would have Praque ...

With the threads you have posted so far, I can see several things happen:

you will all get asked for ID and get mouthy over it.

you will get down for rowdy behavour.

you will all get deported.

On another note, why florida?

I suggested it actually.

We got flights with continental for just over £200, cost of accommodation = £0 as they are both family homes.

£200 each last minute decision, fancied some Disney and some golf etc.

We're well aware that Florida is no Ibiza but it is the daytime activities we are going for with anything available at night being a bonus.

Spending the evening at Disney Boardwalk, Pleasure Island etc is the sort of thing we are after. Few beers, laugh... lads holiday.

1. If i got asked for ID, which I'm sure WILL happen - we will show it, no need to get mouthy.

2. Doubt it, not with the bunch of lads who're invited.

3. No.

4. See above.

Thanks everyone so far for your help and suggestions... oh...

I'm sure this thread will get moved to the "Travel" forum smile

Kissimee has a very good aviation musuem and you can book a flight in a Harvard.

Cape Canaveral is about 70 miles away and that would be worth a trip - especially if a Shuttle is going up (there's one due off on August 25th).

??? Sorry mate, but I was unimpressed with DisneyLand at the age of 13, let alone 23-24! Islands of Adventure and Universal are worth visiting. Perfect for anyone who likes rollercoasters smile Maybe see if there are any paintballing events or quad biking/go-karting nearby? You know, more 'lad' things to do!

If I was going there it wouldnt be for a lads holiday as there really aint much to go girl hunting out there.... its mostly the amreican OAPs and the British who have homes there.

I would do it to go exploring in the keys and fishing off the coast for sts and giggles... lads holiday.... no... chill out doing next to fk all, yes, but I doubt that is what you are expecting.

Cheers Eric, will definitely look into that. I fancy watching a shuttle going up!

We're not a bunch of mouthy English lads, we're not looking to recreate a night in Friday night in Newcastle.

Miami was a thought we had actually. We have a 7 seater booked and another car which prob wont move much - it was booked in case 2 separate groups wanted to head out during the day and do different things and we have decided that we will always have a designated driver. Looks like we would have to pull straws though to see who drove to Miami!

Nothing to add, except this. I've just had 4 days in Krakow. What a city, What beautiful, beautiful, friendly women. And how very, very cheap it is. I'm going back as soon as possible.

If Florida is half as good as that was, you will have a great time, chap. Good hunting.

"Lads Holiday"

What a horrible, horrible concept. Sounds like the scene for a Sky 3 documentary series charting the progress of some oily-haired tossers from a Buckfast breakfast at 10am to stomach pump in A&E at 3am.

We're on the keys for the speed boating etc for a few days.

As I said, just looking for things to do at night, we certainly won't be disappointed as we're not expecting too much from the evenings.

By Disney I meant Blizzard Beach, keen to head there.

Lads Holiday - holiday with lads.

We've done the Ibiza, Malia thing. We just wanted a quiet couple of weeks.

I will pick through this thread later and dig out the few pieces of useful information posted.

Their is loads of things mate, it isn't just a family holiday like, don't know why people would thing that considering you are about 40 miles ish from Miami and Daytona, which i'm sure you know are really good party spots, head up to Ocean Drive in Miami for the day and at nights it goes wild but more American style wild, lol. i would say much better choice than some of the usual choice European places. Plus the Euro is st at the moment...

It doesn't matter whether they think it or not, it's just the way of the PH thread.

Lads holiday - get drunk and try and shag every foreign women standing...

You were the one who used the phrase and then when everyone else it aint a lads holiday area, you then back tracked to say its not like that. Lads holiday has and will only mean one thing.

as said before chilling out can be done, then get to miami for some night life but dont expect too much in the way of british night life.

Oh Krakow, how we love thee. I've been three times now and just can't get enough of the place. Its so refreshing to be able to go out to clubs where a) everyone is there for a good time (not intent on starting any kind of trouble) and b) where the most beautiful women are so friendly that they will come and speak with you just to say hello.

As for the beer prices, I remember the first evening I had out there.... brought a round for 12 of us and it came to the equivalent of £4.

I can recommend Showtime bar, one of the many cavenous underground bars off the main square where you get some very very talented bands.

Oh and the micro brewery located on the corner of Karmelicka and Krupnicza, 2 mins NW from the main square.
