OK, after running a bit low of fuel I got a blocked fuel filter and a carb full of muck. (Tasmin 200 Fixed Head – no fancy pants fuel injectory going on here!)

Not wanting this to happen again I decided to remove the petrol tank and clean it out.

Now here’s where I have the problem – it doesn’t seem to come out, and looks like I’d have to lift the body to get it out! Surely that can’t be the case. Please tell me it’s not true….

IIRC you have to remove the rear suspension, exhaust etc and it's then possible to romove the N/S tank. The O/S is more of a problem as it has extra pipes for the filler. I had to lift the body by 6" to get this tank out. Regards Steve

Correct, the 200 only has one small tank (approx 30 litres) which sits behind the drivers seat.

I can’t believe you have to lift the body!

I’ll just have to try to clean it out best I can in-situ, and stick a new filter or two on it.

My 200 DH has 2 tanks...maybe it's something to do with it being a FH.

Or more likely, they didn't have any left hand ones in the factory when they made mine!!

I just hope that it never starts leaking.

That's just over 6.5 gallons?! Are you sure someone hasn't binned the N/S one at some point in its life?

No idea, but there's only one filler on the right hand side.

I'm just trying to sort out the car at the moment and not going too far with it but it's going to be a bit limiting having a tank that small.

only the early cars had 2 fillers (one right, one left). on later ones the filler was on the right. anyway if you have 2 tanks they are connected by a tube, no matter of it is a 1 or 2 filler model.
