ipod switching to fm tuner 6FL connection

Has anyone else experienced this issue and more importantly what was the fix?

I have purchased the 6FL cable and ipod jumps to fm tuner intermitently.
Car is 57 M3.

Have read on us site that its MULF2 unit fault but two dealers here have never heard of it.
